Led By The Soil Association
Organic September is a Soil Association run month, dedicated to spreading awareness about the benefits of going organic and how to do it. Small changes in your shopping habits and lifestyle can make a big difference to your wellbeing, animal welfare and the environment and throughout the month, we will be sharing easy ideas on how to make the switch.
To get things rolling for Organic September, you’ll want to read our blog ‘Why You Need Organic Products In Your Life’, where we have outlined what ‘organic’ really means, and why we use organic ingredients in our Tabitha James Kraan Organics hair care line.
Here’s why it’s so important to join in with Organic September and go organic for good:
Better For Me
Organic produce is better produce, and higher quality means great results. Whether you’re planning on eating it, putting it on your skin or washing your hair with it, for the best you can get, go organic. Organic September celebrates the use of organic, natural ingredients free from GM, artificial fertilizers and pesticides, which you really do not want in your body. Keep yourself healthy and safe whilst ensuring you’re enjoying the best quality by embracing organic ingredients.
Better For Animals
Another reason that we’re so excited about Organic September is that it promotes animal welfare for our farm animals. When you buy organic meat or dairy products, you are supporting a system, which ensures animals are kept truly free-range, fed good quality hormone and antibiotic free food and monitored for stress free transport and humane slaughter. Organic farms are also havens for wildlife, providing homes for birds, butterflies and bees.
Better For The Environment
Organic September also helps to remind us that when we shop organic, we are helping to protect the environment too. The Soil Association have standards that organic farmers must adhere to and that includes not allowing high conservation value land to be turned into farmland, helping to reduce deforestation and the loss of primary ecosystems. Chemical fertilizers are prohibited meaning healthy, fertile soil must be developed by farmers instead, for strong crops. Going without oil-based fertilizers and pesticides means avoiding high carbon levels in the soil – The Soil Associations states that “if organic farming was common practice in the UK, we could offset at least 23% of agriculture’s current greenhouse emissions.”
This month, join us in enjoying Organic September with The Soil Association by adjusting what you put into your shopping cart. Even the smallest contribution to a cause can make all this difference and by buying organic you will be encouraging more companies to go organic and supporting The Soil Association in making that happen.
Make sure that when you’re shopping for organic products (particularly hair & beauty products), to always check the ingredients list first. Many beauty products claim to be organic even if they contain just 1% organic ingredients or also contain chemical ingredients. Do your research first! The best products tend to have a high percentage of organic ingredients – our Tabitha James Kraan Organics hair care line is 86 – 99.5% organic and 100% natural.
