Why not challenge yourself to an entirely locally grown Organic Christmas this year?
It is actually easier than you’d think! I’ve taken on the challenge this Christmas.
It’s simple to slightly adjust the way you shop, and where you shop, ensuring the best quality produce for you, your family, and friends.
Here are few simple ideas i’ve put together for you:
Welcoming Your Guests
Upton Smokery, near Burford Oxfordshire, is renowned for it’s certified freedom friendly smoked salmon, smoked and packaged on site. Why not entice your guests through the door with delicious Upton Smoked Salmon on homemade Melba Toast with a dollop of Organic Creme Fraiche (from Riverford Organic; delivered to your door!) and a sprinkling of dill. Yum!
The Big Show
Nothing says Christmas like a beautifully cooked Turkey taking pride of place in the centre of the table. Monmouthshire Turkeys rear exceptional birds in an entirely free range environment. They are Soil Association accredited and only use sustainable farming methods. For those vegetarians and vegans amongst our loyal followers, why not try the Hemsley & Hemsley Nut Roast, full of rich Quinoa and Mushrooms. Meat eater or no, Vegetables will be the all important backbone to this festive meal and we advise looking locally for the most delicious and nutritious veg around. Fresh ‘N’ Locallists some of the best local farmers markets in the area, a must-do for all those Christmas essentials. My one tip for Christmas veg – always know where it’s come from.
Now this won’t apply to all, but, what is Christmas without a small tipple or two to urge on those rosy cheeks and good will?! Quoins vineyardin Bradford-on-Avon is famous for it’s Organic wine, grown to strict Soil Association and EU standards. Their distinctive, full bodied red is delightful, and will definitely entice you to try their other varieties.
A Little Sweet Tooth
A hearty Christmas meal is never complete without the burst of colour and flavour that is the Christmas Pudding. The Daylesford Organic 900g Christmas Pudding represents everything that is luxurious festive flavours with it’s plump soaked fruit, almonds and hefty splash of stout and rum. Topped off with a dollop of Organic Brandy Butter. Surely there isn’t anything much better?
Last But By No Means Least
Round off your Organic Christmas Feast with a monumental Cheese plate from Godminster Organic Cheese. This Award winning, Soil Association certified, Somerset based company produce some beautiful cheeses to tempt any palette, and their chutneys aren’t bad either!
