Celebrating Wool Week

our wooly winter wardrobe picks

To commemorate it’s 5th year of cozy, autumnal goodness, today we are celebrating Wool Week, in association with The Campaign for Wool (fore-fronted by their patron, HRH The Price of Wales), by sharing our top Wool Week picks that no winter wardrobe should be without!

Wool Week is a great reminder that shopping ethically for gorgeous clothes is possible and here at Tabitha James Kraan Organics, we’re all for doing our bit to spread the word. Much like our 100% natural, organic and British made hair products, buying and wearing wool is a safe and sustainable solution for both you and the environment. Wool Week promotes locally or fair-trade sourced and made clothing that is renewable, biodegradable and the perfect choice for those of you who suffer from allergies or are rightly concerned about wearing non-synthetic fabrics which are breathable and kind to skin.

What’s not to love about clothing that is beautiful, trans-seasonal (meaning wool constantly reacts to changes in body temperature, keeping you warm in winter and cool in warmer months), resilient and environmentally friendly?

Join in with the last of Wool Week and treat yourself to something super snuggly! If you have sensitive skin and find sheep’s wool a bit itchy, why not try alpaca or high-grade cashmere for a luxuriously soft, eco alternative? Here are some of our favourite, key wool pieces to keep you feeling toasty this autumn and winter:

Trust us, you want this snood! Made from sustainable 50% alpaca and 50% Leicester wool in Britain, Ally B is all about uncompromising, lasting luxury without the cruelty – kind on animals, kind on the environment and kind on you. Described as ‘uncontrived and effortlessly cool’, we couldn’t agree more. This luxurious, chunky knit snood is hand spun using fleece from small flocks of Alpaca, who are well cared for on private smallholdings in the south of England and is perfect for both men and women.

Everyone needs a soft, slouchy jumper that’s great for both lounging and enjoying firework’s night and Christmas markets, without feeling the chill. We love this 77% cashmere blend Boucle Jumper from Hush, for an elegant yet casual look. Heavenly!

Every winter wardrobe needs a sumptuous wooly hat and Wool Week gives us the perfect excuse to get one now before the weather gets any colder! Izzy Lane is a unique, ethical luxury brand who uses wool only from sheep who have been rescued from slaughter, who are now living out their natural lives in Izzy’s sheep sanctuary in North Yorkshire. This stunning, hand-knit hat is made using hand spun wool from their rare breed Wensleydale flock, and something about knowing how happy the sheep are makes this cozy cap all the more lovely.
