Nature’s Best Beauty Product
5 facts about the benefits of water
Here’s some good news to start your day: one of the best health and beauty ‘products’ that you will ever use is actually free and easy to access for those of us lucky enough to live in the developed world!
Ideal for perking up any complexion, clearing skin, glossing hair, strengthening nails and detoxifying you from the inside out – “what is this miracle cure-all?!” I hear you cry…well, it’s water. Yep, you heard me, little old H20 that comes right out of your taps (although, you would be much better off using/drinking bottled or distilled to steer clear of any added chemicals) may be the simple answer to many of your health and beauty woes.
The human body is made up of 60% water – hard to believe, but it’s true! Our brains are around 70% water and our lungs nearly 90%, so it’s no wonder that when we fail to consume our recommended daily allowance of 1.5 – 2 litres per day our skin starts to sag and lose elasticity, our hair gets dry and brittle and we just end up feeling all-round sluggish.
Water is key to our survival, let alone good looks, and this is the same all year round although during the summer months it is especially important to stay well hydrated to avoid any nasty dehydration side effects such as dizziness and nausea.
TOP TIP: Always keep a bottle of water with you (a litre stainless steel or glass flask is ideal), particularly if your are travelling or the weather is warm – this way, you can keep track of your daily water intake and avoid dehydration, wherever you go.
